There’s plenty of explanation here but basically the usefulness of the tool is centered around the idea that content is king and the ongoing creation of content is of key importance when marketing web sites via search engines. It uses the site operator plus a date range

[...] Page Rank Sucks, Check Out IndexRank.
[...] IndexRank: Measure The Indexing Rate Of Your Site By Patrick Schaber Michael Jenson over at SoloSEO introduced a new index ranking tool his company has developed called IndexRank that allows you to measure the rate at which your site is indexed. On a scale of 0-10 you’re given an indication of how often Google (or any search engine for that matter) is coming to index your site. [...]

The results were interesting, was certainly fun to compare my company domain to my close competitors.

Unfortunately I then did a comparison of my domain dolphinpromotions.co.uk, andybeard.eu, sphinn.com, wolf-howl.com and seobook.com.

The IndexRanks were seobook.com 9 dolphinpromotions.co.uk 8 sphinn.com 7 wolf-howl.com 5 andybeard.eu 3

As much as that may be an ego boost for myself there is no way that can been perceived as a valid statistic. We get a fraction of the traffic than the other sites and, we generate less content, less PR, and probably less links!

I think its a good idea but either the data collected is unreliable or the formula to work out the IndexRank is faulty.

Ahm, it looks as if you are only using this new Google feature, right? http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&safe=off&as_qdr=m&q=+site%3Ajabz.biz&as_qdr=y&btnG=Search

It is highly unpredictable, undependable and unreliable. I`ve added this to my tools a month ago...so I tested it to the fullest. It is practically useless crap.
