Thanks for this important information. But how can an average guy judge weather it is original or fraud. I mean you still can't protect innocent people. We need to create a platform where we can give information about all frauds on internet. What you think guys.

If you analyze the trend of online frauds, phishing is still the biggest threat. There is another threat developing in Asian countries where bank or credit card information is somehow stolen. The fraudster uses a phone call and pretends to be a bank staff. The bait so far has been to tempt onncent victims with the news of some reward or even interest free loan!! The idea is the same, get confidential account information and milk the victim.

A scam that is particularl effecting me at the moment isn't so much of an SEO scam more of a marketing scam.

I run a business directory site, a bit different to most directory sites in that I display contact names, addresses and telephone numbers.

I recently had someone ring me asking when would their upgrade be set up. I hadn't a clue what he was talking about, but soon found out someone had contacted him, spoken about his listing and persuaded him to pay for an upgrade.

This had nothing to do with me, the scammer was just missleading him in to thinking he was paying for an upgrade in my directory.

I have since had over a dozen other people contact me about the same thing.

I now monitor people searching for contact numbers, and get about 5 companies who must be constantly scanning through my latest listing. Unfortunately, there is little I can do except warn people when submitting.

Aaron, Thanks for the warnings about people trying to educate (or not educate) us on topics. There are many SEO tips that are not that secret like using alt tags for images, giving value to websites that you post on, and other simple things. I saw these ideas been giving away freely without the $997 (I mean $497, I mean $197) price tag tricks from James Brausch's blog.
Yes, Be careful out there!
