Interesting contradiction. In this post you say that if you decide to build a presence for your company on Facebook that it should be done with great care. Taking it to the extreme that you wouldn't "even join The Office group". Then you go on to say "don't align your company with anything controversial, or questionable". I think that is excellent advise clearly you have learned from your mistakes.

This is an interesting contradiction to your post "Don't blog to live, blog to sell" http://www.soloseo.com/blog/2008/10/28/dont-blog-to-live-blog-to-sell/. In this post you choose to threaten to lay off your employees if Mr. Obama was to win the election. Exactly how many of your employees have you axed? Better still, how many people have you been able to hire after making these remarks? Think about it, if you are a potential employee looking for work is this the kind of hostile environment that you are seeking?

Here is some additional advice about blogging. DON'T BE STUPID!

Don't make your blog about things that are not directly related to your business because nobody but you really cares. Your readers are looking for posts that are on topic and are directly related to the primary topic of the blog. I suppose that you could twist this post into just some liberal nut case trying to defend President Obama but I hope that you have more integrity than that. These comments are a reminder that people do read your blog and that we are looking for some consistency.

You sited a customer who doesn't like The Office as a way of convincing me that you know what you are talking about. Do you honestly think that The Office has a stronger following than President Obama?

You know I have to agree with you and now I'm feeling a little sheepish... I especially agree with the ex-girlfriend viewpoint, it just feels wired.

Removing your rearview mirrors sounds a little extreme though.
